Abstract
hablaremos de objetos procedentes de Perú, Italia, Filipinas y hasta de Tierra SantaThe American elites, in the same way as their European counterparts, liked the
expensive sumptuary products that highlighted their purchasing power. Although on a
much smaller scale than in Mexico or Peru, sculpture in Ivory, Wood and precious
stones, as well as the inlay of tortoiseshell, mother-of-pearl or ebony in the field of
furniture, both domestic and ecclesiastical, was also very important in New Granada. The
appreciation of this type of consumer goods is evident in two types of contemporary
documents: appraisals, where they always appear at high price, and inventories, wich,
although they are usually rather sparse in their descriptions, stop to describe the
materiality of these works.
In this luxury market, a high percentage of the works were imported, so we will talk about
objetcs from Peru, Italy, the Philipines and even the Holy Lan
