Abstract
O texto discute o papel social e cultural do currículo – enquanto artefato próprio da educação escolarizada –, em especial no que concerne às percepções, aos significados e aos usos do espaço e do tempo, na Modernidade. Colocando-se a serviço da episteme da ordem e representação, o currículo contribuiu decisivamente para a constituição do sujeito moderno. Na medida em que hoje estão acontecendo profundas e rápidas modificações espaço-temporais, é importante conhecer não apenas quais são os novos papéis reservados ao currículo, mas também quais as implicações políticas que terá o alargamento de seu conceito para os âmbitos sociais e culturais que transcendem a escola. Palavras-chave: currículo, cultura, Michel Foucault, modernidade, espaço e tempo.This paper discusses the social and cultural roles of the curriculum – as an invention of the modern school education – particularly in relation to the perceptions, meanings and uses of space and time in Modernity. By being at the service of the episteme of order and representation, the curriculum has decisively contributed to the constitution of the modern subject. As today we are experiencing fast and important space-temporal modifications, it is important to know not only the new roles of the curriculum, but also the political implications of the extension of its concept into social and cultural realms situated beyond the school.
