Significant developments in procedures for evaluating liquefaction potential and the post-liquefaction behaviour of earth structures are reviewed for the period 1981-1991. Particular attention is paid to the re-valuation of the liquefaction induced slide in the San Fernando Dam following the 1971 earthquake.
