Soil-cement backfills have been analyzed, designed and tested for the Alto Lazio Nuclear Power Plant in Italy. Extensive analyses were performed to evaluate the stability of and stresses in soil-cement foundation backfills. Soil-structure interaction was also analyzed. The minimum required cement content for foundation and general backfills was established and verified by means of laboratory and field tests.
