This study aims to conduct a review of literature concerning the use of radiographic panoramic in pediatric dentistry, addressing their indications, limitations, protection against radiation and its advantages. Being an extra bucal radiographic technic is more acceptable by children of different ages and their use must be associated with the need to obtain more information from the maxillo-mandibular region, making it an excellent way to assist in the diagnosis of pediatric dentistry, like the study of the dental growth and development, in the study of anomalies and diseases of the jaw. However, it must be supplemented when need for greater detail and sharpness.Este estudo pretende realizar uma revisão de literatura a respeito da utilização da técnica radiográfica panorâmica na Odontopediatria, abordando suas indicações, limitações, proteção contra radiação e suas vantagens. Por ser uma técnica extra-bucal, é melhor tolerada pelas crianças de diferentes faixas etárias e sua utilização deve estar associada à necessidade de se obter um número maior de informações da região maxilo-mandibular, tornando-se um excelente meio auxiliar de diagnóstico para a Odontopediatria, tais como no estudo do crescimento e desenvolvimento dentário, no estudo de anomalias e patologias dos maxilares. Entretanto, quando houver necessidade de um maior detalhamento, deve ser complementada com outras técnicas radiográficas
