This article proposes a debate about women's role through their actions and voices, as an expression of refusal or acceptance of the established patterns. The integration between initiatives of farm diversification and conservation of settlements identity is ensured by the women and such matters will be discussed as from the tension scheme category, through which we have analyzed the problematical insertion of the settlements into distinct regional contexts. The paper restores previous diversification expressions, attempting to handle in a critical way the relations between social production and reproduction, especially when identifying women's role in one or another situation. The investigation still includes latest experiences from family agro-industrialization activities, where women were included, mediated by municipal public policies. The complementary character earlier assured to the woman's labor force in agriculture is questioned and also it attempts to analyze the importance of such activities in the context of family strategies applied by the settled people. The initiatives were followed through direct observation, by collected declarations, interviews and data from daily fieldwork. Asiniciativas de diversificação produtiva e de resgate da identidade dos assentamentos, fortemente mediadas pelas mulheres, serão discutidas a partir da categoria trama de tensões, através da qual temos analisado a problemática inserção dos assentamentos nos distintos contextos regionais. O artigo retoma expressões anteriores de diversificação, busca trabalhar as relações entre produção/reprodução social de maneira crítica, especialmente pela naturalização de lugares atribuídos a um e outro segmento. O artigo trabalha ainda experiências recentes de atividades de agroindustrialização familiar, por parte das mulheres, mediadas por políticas públicas municipais. Questiona-se o caráter de complementaridade inicialmente atribuído ao trabalho de mulher na agricultura e procura-se analisar a importância de tais atividades no contexto de estratégias familiares postas em ação pelos assentados. O acompanhamento das iniciativas se deu através de observação direta, com a tomada de depoimentos, entrevistas e registros em diários de campo
