Academic Affairs Weekly Update 10­3­16
Colleagues,
This week we bring you an updated staff, functions, and contact list, provide
information about the Lamson open labs, and announce the development of the
Center for School Partnerships and Educator Preparation. It’s been another busy
week!
Attached is the most up to date version of the staff, functions and contact list.
Please use it to identify the best person to contact in support of your work. If you
are unable to determine who to contact, please email or call Kristen Hersom and
she will work with you to determine the most appropriate support person. You can
reach Kristen at 5­3500 or kahersom@plymouth.edu.
Elaine Allard, Interim Dean of the Library, provided this update on the Open Labs
in Lamson. They are being used in a variety of ways.  Students are meeting in
the spaces to work on individual and group projects.  Faculty are bringing their
classes over to tour/demo the space as a way to see the possibilities for current
and future assignments.  The Arts and Technology Cluster has held meetings in
Lamson 031.  The student Film Club also uses Lamson 031 for weekly meetings.
Elaine invites you to reach out to Daphne Morin if you’d like to bring your class
over. (dmorin@plymouth.edu). Josh Perks, of the Center for Transformation, can
assist you in designing open lab style assignments (jperks@plymouth.edu) and
Katie Martell & Melinda Barnsley of the Academic Technologies team can assist
with using various technologies (kmmartell@plymouth.edu;
mjbarnsley@plymouth.edu). Starting the week of October 17th, all three will be
offering workshops and times to drop by to experiment in the open labs. You can

Finally, we are excited to announce the development of the Center for School
Partnerships and Educator Preparation. The vision for the Center was developed
by educator preparation faculty and provides for enhanced collaboration across
PSU education preparation programs. The Center draws from existing campus
resources currently allocated to the Office of Educator Preparation and the
Council for Educator Preparation will be central to the Center efforts. The Center
will serve approximately 1000 students annually and 28 programs, support
approximately 130 internships annually, and oversees our Institutional CAEP
accreditation and program accreditation. The Center is a wonderful example of
the power of cross­campus collaboration.
