Perfil estatístico dos armadores de basquetebol

Abstract

The aim of this study was to analyze the statistical profile of the point guards of the teams that participated in the FIBA World Championship in 2010. Data were obtained through the official website of the International Basketball Federation, and analyzed official statistics of 57 point guards, belonging to 24 teams participating in the competition. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics (mean and standard deviation). The results revealed that the point guards made low number of offensive and defensive actions per game, compared to that observed in the literature. Findings that may be related to reduced time spent in court, and the highest level of competition. With regard to offensive actions, the point guards had a profile lower than expected for the position in regard to assistance and field goal (excepting the free throw). However, they exhibited a characteristic profile of the position, with respect to the few loose balls per game. The defensive profile revealed a mild involvement of these players in the actions of blocks, defensive rebounds and steals for their teams. However, it is emphasized that the low values achieved the first two indicators can be related to height and positioning on the court, often the front and away from the basket and action in the paint, while the third indicator (steals) can be directly linked to the technical level of the players in this competition, including the point guards themselves, who had a low index of mistakes (lost balls) per game.O objetivo do presente estudo foi analisar o perfil estatístico dos armadores das seleções que participaram do Campeonato Mundial de Basquetebol Masculino em 2010. Os dados foram obtidos através do site oficial da Federação Internacional de Basquetebol, sendo analisadas as estatísticas oficiais de 57 armadores, pertencentes às 24 equipes participantes da competição. Os dados foram analisados através da estatística descritiva (média e desvio padrão). Os resultados revelaram que os armadores realizaram baixo número de ações ofensivas e defensivas por jogo, em comparação ao observado na literatura. Constatações que podem ter relação com o tempo reduzido de permanência em quadra, bem como do alto nível da competição. No que se refere às ações ofensivas, os armadores apresentaram um perfil abaixo do esperado para a posição, no que se refere às assistências e o aproveitamento de arremessos (com excessão do lance livre). Contudo, apresentaram um perfil característico da posição, no que se refere à poucas bolas perdidas por jogo. O perfil defensivo revelou uma participação discreta destes jogadores nas ações de tocos, rebotes defensivos e bolas recuperadas por suas equipes. Porém, destaca-se que os baixos valores alcançados que os dois primeiros indicadores podem estar relacionados à estatura e ao seu posicionamento em quadra, frequentemente a frente e afastado da cesta e da ação dentro do garrafão, enquanto o terceiro indicador (bolas recuperadas) pode estar diretamente ligado ao nível técnico dos jogadores desta competição, inclusive dos próprios armadores, que apresentaram baixo índice de erros cometidos (bolas perdidas) por jogo
