The mental health promotion evaluation form for depressive prevention in elderly in Chiang Rai

Abstract

The mental health promotion evaluation form for depressive disorders prevention in elderly in Chiang Rai who attended the 3 months trial plan of the form of mental health promotion under local culture. This consisted of Tung tree cutting, prolonging activities and stimulation, Bai Sri Su Khwan, recycling and Tai Chi exercise. This study used a simple random sampling with a list of 36 subject names. The research instruments were the evaluation form under the Ottawa charter for health promotion which consisted of creating a policy for mental health promotion, creating an environment that is conducted to mental health well-being, strengthening the community and stakeholders in mental health promotions, developing personal skills in promoting mental health and modifying a health care system for promoting mental health. To evaluate the satisfaction using this form were determined by 5 experts for the content validity and the results were 0.93. This study found that health promotion form was at a high level with the mean 4.41 (SD = 0.49) and the satisfaction of the elderly who participated in the trial form was at a moderate level with the mean at 3.67 (SD = 0.30). Therefore, the creation process of the form of mental health promotion for depressive disorders prevention in the elderly with severe level based on their social culture, and understanding their distress, happiness and requirements with emphasis on activities promoting health and reducing the risk of depression in  these elderly
