Raising more than $2 million since 2003, the Friends support Lynn’s effort to provide free tuition scholarships and room and board to all Conservatory of Music students. The group also raises money for the Dean’s Discretionary Fund, which supports the immediate needs of the university’s music performance students. This is accomplished through annual gifts and special events, such as outreach concerts and the annual Gingerbread Holiday Concert. The Leadership Society of Lynn University  The Leadership Society is the premier annual giving society for donors who are committed to ensuring a standard of excellence at Lynn for all students. Mario received his bachelor’s degree in music performance from The Florida State University and his Master of Music here at Lynn.  While continuing his studies in the Professional Performance Certificate program at Lynn, Mario plays with many orchestras in Florida, including the Miami Symphony and the Atlantic Classical Orchestra, and as a member of the Ocala Symphony.  An avid educator, Mario also maintains a private studio and gives masterclasses at area middle and high schools.    Pianist Sheng-Yuan Kuan has performed at the Kennedy Center, Weill Recital Hall, Taiwan National Concert Hall, and Musikverein in Vienna. She has appeared in KUAF/Fulbright Summer Chamber Music Festival, Baltimore Symphony Orchestra's Chamber Music by Candlelight series, Artscape Baltimore, the Sylvia Adalman Chamber Concert Series at Peabody Conservatory, Broward100, and various south Florida public library concert series.           Sheng-Yuan has collaborated with famed musicians such as Nobuko Imai, Stefan Jackiw, Stephen Taylor, Espen Lilleslatten, Richard Stolzman, Keng-Yuen Tseng, Chad Hoopes, Sir Angel Romero, Time for Three, and members of the Parker Quartet and Apollo Trio. She also made appearances at music festivals such as Bowdoin, Aria, Sarasota, Yellow Barn, Gijon Piano Festival and Norfolk Summer Music Festival. Tim Smith of the Baltimore Sun praised her as "(having) admirable technical finesse and expressive flair at the piano."          Sheng-Yuan has obtained awards at competitions worldwide, including the 13th Beethoven Piano Competition in Vienna (Best Female Pianist Award, 2009), the 12th Taipei Chopin International Piano Competition (3rd Prize, 2008), Corpus Christi International Competition in Texas (2nd Prize, 2008), New York Kosciuszko Chopin Piano Competition (3rd Prize, 2003), and BYU-Hawaii Concerto Competition (Winner, 2000). She was also the recipient of Honolulu Morning Music Club Scholarship, Peabody Institute of Music's Career Development Grant, Chamber Music Award and Accompanying Assistantship.              Sheng-Yuan received her D.M.A. degree from the Peabody Conservatory, M.M. degree from Yale School of Music, and B.M. degree from the Manhattan School of Music. Her mentors have included Boris Slutsky, Peter Frankl, Scott McCarrey and Constance Keene. She is a member of South Florida Chamber Ensemble, Scherzo Trio, A's Duo, and Femina Camera Trio. Currently, she serves as staff collaborative pianist and adjunct keyboard instructor at Lynn University, as well as piano faculty at the Heifetz International Music Institute.
