LYNN UNIVERSITY CONSERVATORY OF MUSIC 2006 Dr. Jon Robertson, Dean Welcome to the 2005-2006 season. This being my first year as dean of the conservatory, I greet the season with unabated enthusiasm and excitement. The talented musicians and extraordinary performing faculty at Lynn represent the future of the performing arts, and you, the patrons, pave the road to their artistic success through your presence and generosity. This community engagement is in keeping with the Conservatory of Music's mission: to provide high-quality professional performance education for gifted young musicians and set a superior standard for music performance worldwide. THE ANNUAL FUND A gift to the Annual Fund can be designated for scholarships, various studios, special concerts or to the General Conservatory Fund. ADOPT-A-STUDENT You may select from the conservatory's promising young musicians and provide for his or her future through the Conservatory Scholarship Fund. You will enjoy the concert even more when your student performs. A gift of $25,000 adopts a student for one year. A gift of $100,000 pays for an education. ESTATE GIFT An estate gift will provide for the conservatory in perpetuity. Your estate gift may be made as a gift of appreciated stock, real estate or cash. FRIENDS OF THE CONSERVATORY As a member of the Friends of the Conservatory, you will be involved in an organization that seeks to address the needs of the students and the conser-vatory as a whole. This organization has just com-pleted its first year and now includes more than 1 00 members providing major scholarship assis-tance to the students. VOLUNTEERING Become a volunteer. Tina Davidson Jared Weidenbaum, marimba Yang Shen, piano CHRISTOPHER TUSA Christopher Tusa was born in Baltimore, Maryland. He began studying piano at an early age under Dave Schaefer. He began his percussion studies under the direction of Joseph Fischer, Tim Beall and Chris Marousek. Chris studied at Calvert Hall College High School where he was extremely active in the music program. Here he played in concert band, symphonic winds, wind ensemble, jazz ensemble, marching band, orchestra pit, and the Archdioceses of Baltimore Wind Ensemble. After high school Chris was very active in teaching, from 2000 to 2001 he was the bass tech at Kent Island High School, then he was the caption head of Burlington Township High School and the arranger of Palmyra High School's percussion ensemble the following year. In 2004, Chris began his studies at Lynn University, with his principal teacher Dr. Michael Parola of the Core Ensemble. Chris is an active performer in Southern Florida, playing with Symphony of the Americas, Hollywood Philharmonic, the Southwest Florida Philharmonic, and is currently a timpanist for the Deerfield Symphony. Chris has played in and attended master classes with Arturo Sandoval, Joel Bluestone, Lee Bedis, Jim Baker, principal percussionist of the New York City Ballet; and Richard Horowitz, of the New York Metropolitan Opera. Chris is currently seeking his Bachelor of Music Performance at Lynn University.
