In 1986, he won 2rx1 Prize at the National Competition for Instrumentalists in Bulgaria. There followed I st Prize at the California Young Artist Competition, and a Semi-finalist at the "Vaclav Huml" International Violin Competition in Zagreb, Croatia. Angel has attended the Aspen Music Festival twice; and his teachers include Alexander Kerr, concertmaster of the Royal Concertgebow Orchestra, and Aaron Rosand. At the age of sixteen he was accepted to study, with full scholarship, at ldyllwild Arts Academy in California, one of the most renowned arts high schools in the US. At Idyllwild he was a semifinalist at the Spotlight Competition in Los Angeles, and won I st Prize at the Temecula Young Artists Competition in California. In 1999, he was awarded "Most Distinguished Arts Student" at Idyllwild - the highest honor for a student at that institution. Angel ·has performed in solo recitals in Miami and Boynton Beach, Florida; Sacramento, California; and Idyllwild, California. His orchestral engagements include performances with the Sacramento Chamber Orchestra, Idyllwild Chamber Orchestra, and Plovdiv Philharmonic (Bulgaria). Angel has participated in Master Classes with Gil Shaham, Aaron Rosand, Pamela Frank, and Joseph Silverstein.
