Las pruebas de diagnóstico son necesarias para determinar la competencia
matemática de los estudiantes que acceden a los grados de maestro. A tal fin se toma una
muestra de alumnos del GMP del curso 17/18 a los que se les pasa la prueba de competencia
matemática de 6.º de Primaria. De los 32 ítems de la prueba seis no se superan, la media de
la muestra de 233 participantes es de 6,43 sobre diez, obteniendo por bloques de contenidos:
incertidumbre (6,90), números (6,81), medida (6,07) y geometría (5,74), siendo uno de cada
cinco estudiantes quien no llega a alcanzar el 5. Esta prueba, de haber sido oficial, establecida
por ley como está en Cataluña, con la Prueba de Aptitud Personal, habría significado que un
20 % de estudiantes habrían sido declarados No Aptos para realizar los estudios que acceden
al Grado de Maestro.Placement tests are necessary to determine teacher students’ mathematical competence.
To this extent, a sample of students from academic year 17/18 were asked to complete
the mathematical competence test which Primary Education students in Year 6 have to
take. Of the 32 items in the test, six were not passed and the arithmetic mean obtained by the 233 participants was 6,43 out of 10. The different content blocks tested obtained the following
arithmetic means: uncertainty (6,90), numbers (6,81), measurement (6,07) and geometry
(5,74). Besides, one in five students obtained marks below 5. If this test had been official, as
is the case in Catalonia for students who want to study teaching degrees, 20 % of them could
