Se realizó el estudio histopatológico retrospectivo de 134 neoplasias del folículo piloso y de células basales, ingresadas al servicio de diagnóstico del Instituto de Patología "Dr. Bernardo Epstein" de la Facultad de Ciencias Veterinarias (UNLP) entre enero de 1981 y diciembre de 2003. Del total de las neoplasias de piel correspondientes al periodo en estudio (1403 casos) los tumores del folículo piloso representaron el 8,2%. Dentro de ellos el tricoblastoma resultó la neoplasia folicular más frecuente (38,81%), seguida por el tricoepitelioma (27,61%), el acantoma infundibular queratinizante (17,90%), el pilomatricoma (13,43%), el tricolemoma (1,5%) y el pilomatricoma maligno (0,75%). La edad promedio de presentación fue de 7,6 años y la relación macho/hembra fue 1/1,53 siendo la localización anatómica más frecuente la cabeza, el cuello y el tronco.A survey was carried out on the canine hair follicle tumors recorded in the registration files of the Institute of Pathology, Faculty of Veterinary Sciences, La Plata National University, Argentina, over a 23-year period from 1981 to 2003. A total of 134 tumors were studied accounting for 8.2% of the whole recorded canine cutaneous tumors. The most frequent was trichoblastoma (38.81%) followed by trichoepithelioma (27.61%), infundibular keratinizing acanthoma (17.90%), pilomatricoma (13.43%), tricholemmoma (1.5%) and malignant pilomatricoma (0.75%). Most of the tumors were located on the head, neck and trunk. The male-to-female ratio was 1:1.53. The main age at diagnosis was 7.6 years.Facultad de Ciencias Veterinaria
