Demonstration; Belt power test; Twin City

Abstract

Doing a belt test on a Twin City tractor. The tractor is tested with a "Prony Brake" dynamometer, which is a friction-based type and very unstable in maintaining a constant load. This test was probably set up for a demonstration because the much more reliable electric dynamometers had been used at the test lab since 1920. The old tractor test building is the white building in the photograph. The stack belongs to the east campus power plant
