Managing critical risks of energy efficient and renewable technologies implemented in Australian green office buildings

Abstract

Green building projects can be classified as complex projects. This is because of the integration of all the different structural and service elements of a building and the need to adopt a systematic approach in all technological aspects when dealing with green buildings. Therefore, green building development may be exposed to critical risks that may threaten the green technologt implementation and negatively impact stakeholders. As part of a risk management study, this paper will present the findings of a series of interviews conducted to explore ways of managing the critical risks of energy efficient and renewable technologies (EERTs) implemented in Australian green office buildings. The outcomes will provide informed advice to green buildings stakeholders on how to deal with the critical risks of EERTs. The advice is based on the opinions of different professional practitioners in the green building industry, including architects, controctors, engineers and project managers
