The primary purpose of this paper is to review the literature that analyzes Russia\u27s economic transition and the causes of the inflation. Next, the paper analyzes what role the inflation plays in the current process of reform of the Russian economy. Finally, drawing from the experiences of other nations with similar histories, previous and possible policy options to remedy the inflation are discussed
