Very few people will be able to buy the book, so no one will read my chapter. My collaborators (and students) in other countries can’t read my articles or books because they (or their libraries) can’t afford to buy them. My article won’t be published for another year/6 months/1 week, but I want it to be read NOW. People keep asking for my papers, and it’s a pain to keep emailing them one at a time. Because I can.
