Prof. Kim touring POSCO with Senior VP andPrincipal ResearcherWith the support of the Global Education Center’s International Travel Development andEngagement Grants, UNH faculty members in the current academic year have presented atconferences, given guest lectures, pursued research opportunities and completed site visits andpreparatory work for future education abroad opportunities on three continents.Geochemistry Professor Julie Bryce spent some time in Iceland enhancing her connections with theInstitute for Earth Sciences and seeking out the potential for future student exchange. In addition,she participated in an international drilling project o  Iceland's southeast coast.In the area of engineering, Professor EshanDave organized and participated ininternational meetings at the University ofNottingham in England; he gave presentationson cracking in asphalt materials and recycledasphalt materials. The trip strengthened therelationship between UNH and the NottinghamTransportation Engineering Center, leading to areciprocal visit in April 2018 to give a seminar tocivil and environmental engineeringundergraduate and graduate students.9/24/2018 Global Education Center Grants Support Faculty Development Worldwide | UNH Globalhttps://www.unh.edu/global/global-education-center-grants-support-faculty-development-worldwide 2/4Nepalese woman selling flowersProfessor Young Jo Kim traveled to South Korea and visited two universities and two globalcompanies, discussing his interest in lithium purification from brine and giving talks in his field anddiscussing the possibility of scholars exchange in the future.In the area of health, Professor BoRin Kim alsovisited South Korea to further her research andteaching collaborations in the disciplines ofsocial and health policies. Professor PatriciaHalpin attended the IUPS World Congress,Ryythms of Life, in Brazil and madepresentations and met many of theparticipating physiologists. Nursing professorMichele Loos served as a guest faculty lecturerat Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences inthe Netherlands, met with a UNH nursing student there, and participated and supervised researchon Dutch elder residents’ quality of life and well-being.
