L’article est basé sur l’autoanalyse d’une expérience de collecteur-conteur conduite en parallèle à la relecture de l’Essai sur le don de Marcel Mauss. Rendre les contes en les disant à son tour y est présenté comme un possible contre-don. Cherchant une suite au don reçu au moment du collectage, l’auteur questionne le lien entre les partenaires du conte, les « auditeurs » et les « informateurs ». Il porte pour cela attention au moment et aux conditions dans lesquelles les contes lui sont confiés ainsi qu’aux caractéristiques de la personne qui les confie. Pour le conteur, ancien collecteur, le souvenir de la réception doit faire alors partie intégrante du récit, comme une forme d’éthique à respecter. Commence alors une série d’interrogations concernant, en particulier, les conditions matérielles de la restitution, la délimitation spatiale et la qualification du groupe constitué par ces échanges.This article is based on the self-analysis of a storyteller-collector, lead in parallel with a review of Marcel Mauss’s, The Gift. “Giving the stories back” by telling them in turn is presented as a possible counter-gift.
