Plan de cuidados para pacientes con dispositivos de asistencia ventricular izquierda, hospitalizados

Abstract

The number of patients with advanced heart failure who benet from the implantation of left ventricular assist devices is ever increasing, as the latter have proven to be successful in improving their survival and quality of life. The aim is to develop a care plan for these patients at the in-patient unit prior to discharge. For the development thereof, the Virginia Henderson´s care model and the North American Nursing Diagnosis Association, Nursing Outcomes Classication and Nursing Interventions Classication taxonomies, as well as the links among them, were used. A new eld of care opens up for nursing professionals. We tried to meet these patients´ needs, already considered by some authors as the new chronic heart failure patients. The nursing staff plays a key role in training, preparation for selfcare management, management and care of the device and caregiver´s training and care, among others.Cada día es mayor el número de pacientes con insuciencia cardiaca avanzada que se benecia del implante de dispositivos de asistencia ventricular izquierda, ya que han demostrado mejorar su supervivencia y calidad de vida. El objetivo es realizar un plan de cuidados para estos pacientes, en la unidad de hospitalización previa al alta domiciliaria. Para su desarrollo se utilizó el modelo de cuidados de Virginia Henderson y la taxonomía North American Nursing Diagnosis Association, Nursing Outcomes Classication y Nursing Interventions Classication y los vínculos entre ellas. Se abre un nuevo campo de cuidados para los profesionales de enfermería. Se buscó satisfacer las necesidades de estos pacientes, considerados ya por algunos autores como el nuevo paciente crónico de la insuciencia cardiaca. El personal de enfermería juega un papel importante en la formación, preparación para la gestión de autocuidados, manejo y cuidado del dispositivo, preparación y atención del cuidador entre otros
