Els forns de guix en les explotacions mineres històriques de la Serra de na Burguesa (Mallorca)

Abstract

Es presenta la descripció i planimetria parcial dels forns de guix de la serra de na Burguesa (Mallorca). Els conjunts de forns estudiats es presenten en parells i es localitzen a la vora d’antigues explotacions mineres de guix. La cronologia és incerta però, segons la nostra opinió, alguns forns ja eren operatius durant el s. XVIII i alguns no es varen abandonar fins a mitjans del s. XX. Actualment, la majoria es troben en runes per la qual cosa l’objectiu d’aquest article és documentar el que queda d’aquests forns de guix abans que l’estat de deteriorament augmenti i contribuir al coneixement d’aquests elements del patrimoni miner de Mallorca.Here we present the description and partial planimetry of gypsum furnaces from Serra de Na Burguesa (Mallorca). All sets of furnaces were built in pairs and they are located close to old gypsum mines. Despite their uncertain chronology, here we argue that some of the furnaces were operating during the 18th century and a few of them were not abandoned until mid-20th Century. Currently most of the buildings are in ruins. For this reason, the objective of this paper is to document the remains of these gypsum furnaces before the deterioration increases and also to contribute to the knowledge of the mining heritage of Mallorca
