Análisis de los aspectos epistemológicos y sociales presentes en el discurso tecno-científico referido a los organismos genéticamente modificados (OGM) cultivados en la Argentina

Abstract

In this paper, we analyze the main arguments that are present in the techno-scientific discourse of biotechnology specialists about genetically modified organisms (GMOs) grown in Argentina, with regard both to its epistemic assumptions and to its reference to the relationships between techno-science and society. In particular, our work focuses on two complementary aspects of this discourse: the epistemic factors related to the origin and the growing prestige of molecular genetics as a biological subdiscipline, and the argumentations presented by scientifics and technocrats in the Ciencia Hoy journal. These supported the legitimacy of the introduction and expansion of GM cultures that has taken place in Argentina during the last fifteen years.En este trabajo se analizan los principales ejes argumentales del discurso tecnocientífico referido al cultivo de organismos genéticamente modificados (OGM) en la Argentina, tanto en relación con los supuestos epistemológicos subyacentes, como en cuanto a los vínculos entre la tecno-ciencia y la sociedad. En particular, nuestro análisis se centra en dos aspectos complementarios: los factores epistemológicos relativos al origen y al creciente prestigio de la genética molecular y la argumentación utilizada en la revista Ciencia Hoy por científicos y tecnócratas, que constituirían un pilar significativo en la construcción de la legitimidad social de la introducción y creciente expansión de cultivos GM durante los últimos quince años en la Argentina
