According to the decrease in the global offer and the
increase of prices of fossil fuels exists a growing trend to
generate energy alternatives. The production of
commodities to generate biofuels competes with the
production of foods, fibers and wood. The ethanol
production from grains as corn and weath will impact the
global market of food. In the United States, the main
supplier of yellow corn to Mexico, in 2012 is foreseen to
use a mixture of biofuels with ten percent of ethanol
(OECD, 2006). The use of corn, basic food of Mexicans, in
the generation of ethanol will have redistributive effects of
social welfare through prices and amounts produced and
consumed.Ante la disminución de la oferta mundial y el aumento de
los precios de los combustibles fósiles existe una tendencia
creciente por generar alternativas energéticas. La
producción de materias primas para generar
biocombustibles compite con la producción de alimentos,
fibras y madera. La producción de etanol a partir de granos
como el maíz y el trigo impactará el comercio mundial de
alimentos. En Estados Unidos, principal proveedor de maíz
amarillo para México, en 2012 se prevé usar una mezcla de
combustible con diez por ciento de etanol (OECD, 2006).
El uso del maíz, alimento básico del pueblo mexicano, en la
generación de etanol tendrá efectos redistributivos en
bienestar social a través de los precios y cantidades
producidas y consumidas
