Abstract

Note of thanks to Lieutenant Commander Coggins for opportunity to see newspaper clippings. Attached is a memorandum to Lieutenant Commander Coggins from Lieutenant (jg) Stephenson that encloses newspaper clippings from the Honolulu Advertiser and Honolulu Star-Bulletin from January 1943 with reaction to the announcement that Nisei will be permitted to volunteer for Army service (clippings not included). Letter also mentions the "Balch proposal" to evacuate Japanese from Hawaii
