TEXAS Dec. 22nd, 1958 The Reverend John Allan Chalk Church of Christ - Northridge 5900 North Dixie Drive Dayton, Ohio Dear Mr. Chalk: Mr. Howard Young has returned to our Fort Worth office with a wonderful report on the cooperation given him by you and the good people of the Northridge Church of Christ. It is always our pleasure to be so fortunate to be able to serve such a fine and deserving group in the pursuance of a Christian work. Of course, we never feel that our service is completed until the last bond is sold, so we want you to keep in close contact with us regarding the progress and finalization of this program which despite the hazzards of the weather has such a fine 1::eginning. I am privately hoping to hear that it has been completed by Christmas Eve, but really expect that it will take 21 to 30 actual selling days to complete. Mr. Young has privately advised me that you expressed an interest in assisting us with this type of work. I must say that we are extremely flattered that such a talented man as yourself would express such a desire. However, it has never been EDISON 2-9004 ED,soN 6-8972 our policy to utilize full time assistance from members of the clergy. we feel that it is not in keeping with their mission in life nor completely compatible with their individual background and training. All of this not withstanding we have been able to work with many such capable ministers as yourself in a capacity that has proven profitable to them, assisted us and helped to spread Christianity through our plan of church financial assistance, which we humbly believe to be our own form of Evangelism. If you would be interested in working with us on a purely conunission basis we would be delighted to discuss the matter further with you. We would at the present time, however, be pleased if you would keep this a confiden-tial matter and we in turn will respect the same confidenceo I would like to ask one more imposition on your very busy schedule, and that is to permit me to give your name as a referral for information from others that are interested in the type of financial assis-tance our organization offers. These inquiries will be from Pastors like yourself who are interested in a first hand report of our services. If we can be of any service to you please feel free to contact me or my brother in our Fort Worth Officeo But now, let me take this opportunity to again thank you for the fine cooperation you have given us and your own congregation.
