Other memorable performances haveincluded chamber music collaborations with Edgar Meyer, Timothy Eddy, PaulKatz, Barry Shiffman, Henk Guittart, Pekka Kuusisto, Ismo Eskelinen, and RalfGothóni. A dedicated teacher, David became a member of the performancefaculty at the University of Virginia in 2006. In 2011, he was appointedAssistant Professor of Violin at State University of New York at Fredonia. Healso taught at the Wintergreen Summer Music Academy and served on thefaculty of Masterworks Festival. Recently, he offered masterclasses atCalifornia State University at Fullerton, Buffalo State University, and theJerusalem Academy of Music and Dance in Israel. A native of Alberta, Canada,David received his first violin lessons from Elfreda Gleam and William van derSloot. He was fortunate to study for nine years with Ranald Shean whoinstilled in him a deep love of music and a special appreciation of theviolinists of the early 20th century. Following a year of study with EdmondAgopian at Mount Royal College in Calgary, he began his undergraduateeducation at the University of Alberta under Martin Riseley. As a fullscholarship student at Yale School of Music, he entered the studio of PeterOundjian and Ani Kavafian. He holds the Master of Music, Master of MusicalArts and Doctor of Musical Arts degrees from Yale. As a winner of a JohannStrauss Foundation Scholarship in both 1998 and 1999, David was affordedthe opportunity to study at the Internationale Sommerakademie Mozarteumin Salzburg, Austria with Igor Oistrakh, Michael Frischenschlanger,Jean-Jacques Kantorow, and Igor Ozim. In the summers of 2004 and 2005, hestudied and performed at the Steans Institute for Young Artists at the RaviniaFestival in Chicago. In June of 2005, David made his formal Ravinia Festivaldebut at the Martin Theater.
