A PICTORIAL TRAVELOGUE 
Members of the Society spent an enjoyable evening at 
Newstead House on AprU 4, when Mr. C. Postle, Photo-
graphic Liaison Officer of the State PubUc Relations Bureau 
screened 200 excellent coloured photographic slides depict-
ing scenic and industrial views of Queensland. 
Spectacular shots included operations at the Towns-
vUle copper refinery, showing the anode casting wheel and 
the rod mill drawing out mUes of glowing snake-like copper 
rod. 
There were also close-up pictures of the Koomboo-
loomba and Tinaroo dams. 
The photographs constituted a magnificent pictorial 
travelogue of a motor tour of coastal and inland Queens-
land from Cpolangatta to Cairns and west to Mt. Isa and 
Mary Kathleen and shots of the Barrier Reef Islands. 
The President (Sir Raphael Cilento) in thanking Mr. 
Postle on behalf of the Society, praised the high standard of 
photography as depicted in the slides. 
They were, he said, some of the finest colour photo-
graphs of Queensland he had ever seen.
