A former Vice President of theInternational Theatre Critics Association (based in London, Parisand Athens) and past International Chairman of the AmericanTheatre Critics Association, Anderson was commissioned by theKennedy Center in Washington to write its production notes onthe national premiere of Martha Clarke’s Vers la flamme in 1999.For Actors Theatre of Louisville, he has delivered addresses onJohn Steinbeck and Anne Bogart in the Brown-Forman Classicsin Context Festival (those speeches are published in 500 Yearsof Theatre History, Smith & Kraus, 2000). In contrast to the commercial environment ofBroadway, the Guthrie is dedicated to producing the greatworks of literature, to cultivating artists’ talents and nourishingthe audience.
