PughOak Ridge National LaboratoryOak Ridge, Tennessee 37830AbstractA brief description of liquid-metal fast-breeder reactor systems willbe given along with some attendant structural design problems associated withinelastic material behavior. Central features of the ORNL program to developapplicable structural design methods will be outlined, including considerationsof material deformation and failure. Activities to develop constitutive equa-tions applicable to elastic-plastic and creep behavior will be discussed andcurrently recommended methods described. Some basic features of inelastic be-havior of pertinent materials (particularly type 30U stainless steel) will beillustrated, along with the role they play in the development of constitutiveequations.
