For more information, please contact surface@syr.edu. 0    SCRC Behind the Scenes » Blog Archive » Research Roundtable Blog Home Library Site Ask us Login SCRC Behind the Scenes Like 0 Research Roundtable November 8th, 2011 by Lucy Mulroney Today Maarten van Gageldonk, an American Studies PhD candidate from Radboud University Nijmegen (Holland), will present his research on the relationship between Grove Press, Evergreen Review, and the Theater of the Absurd. The jumping off point for Maarten’s talk is a special issue of Evergreen Review from 1960 that was dedicated to the ‘Pataphysics Movement. From here Maarten will guide us through his research on how this movement introduced of avant­garde French theater to American readers, and then how it became intertwined with the Theater of the Absurd through Grove’s in-house literary magazine and books. A group of about twenty people from across Syracuse University, including faculty, graduate students, staff, and library associates will gather in our Lemke Room in a few minutes to discuss Maarten’s research.
