DURHAM, N.H. -- Beth Olshansky, creator of two
programs that improve student writing through literacy,
will conduct four workshops during the month of
January at the University of New Hampshire. These
unique art-and-literature based literacy programs have
been proven by research to dramatically improve
student writing and are guaranteed to entice even the
most reluctant writers.
Olshansky is the program developer and director of
Image-Making Within the Writing Process and Picture
Writing: Fostering Literacy Through Art. Both
programs are run out of the Laboratory for Interactive
Thinking at UNH.
Elementary school teachers, language arts teachers,
reading specialists, art specialists and special education
teachers are encouraged to attend. Classroom
facilitation practices, classroom management and mini-
lessons will be addressed. The workshops run from
8:30 a.m to 4 p.m. The schedule is as follows:
January 4 and 5, 2002: Picture Writing: Fostering

January 6 and 7, 2002: Picture Writing Integrated
Model
January 11 and 12, 2002: Image-Making Within
the Writing Process
January 13 and 14, 2002: Image-Making Poetry
The cost per workshop is $250 and the registration
