The Pettee Medal isawarded annually to a resident or former resident ofNew Hampshire in recognition of outstandingaccomplishment or distinguished service in any form tothe state, the nation or the world.At the ceremony, Burns will speak about his 20-yearfilmmaking career, during which he has produced someof the most acclaimedhistorical documentaries evermade. The ceremony also willfeature a performance byfamed New Hampshireguitarist Ed Gerhard, whowrote and performed twosongs for Burns' most recentdocumentary, "Mark Twain."Burns, a resident of Walpole,N.H., has achieved worldwiderecognition for hisdocumentary films. During hiscareer, he has taken on avariety of subjects, including the Civil War, the journeyof Lewis and Clark, the American West and the historyof baseball and jazz.
