Abstract

“How many different ways can you show me 5 on your fingers?” This hands-on workshop will dive into number operations, especially focused on number composition. We will discuss what number composition is, how it develops for children during preschool, and how best to encourage children’s thinking and doing around this topic. We will consider strategies, view videos, and explore materials and activities that can meaningfully support children to make sense of number relationships
