Meter. Right-handed pitcher for Cleveland Indians, 1936- 
1956. Missed 19 4 2 -1944 seasons due to military ser­
vice in W orld W ar II. W on 266 games. Elected to  Base­
ball Hall o f Fame, 1962. (Portrayed on 1952 Cleveland

4-1891, Orient; d. 2 -16 -1961. Homo- 
sassa Springs. Florida. Right-handed 
pitcher. Pittsburgh Pirates. 1915-1918 
Sold to New York Yankees and played 
briefly, 1918. Brooklyn Dodgers. 
1922-1933.Traded to  St. Louis Car­
dinals. Began 1934 w ith Cincinnati, 
returned to Cardinals and briefly ap­
peared fo r victorious “ Gas House 
Gang" in 1934 W orld Series against 
D etro it. Brooklyn Dodgers, 1935.
