This article should serve the students as an introduction to the research of higher nobility from the
Czech lands between 1650-1750. It consists of three main parts. The first one tries to answer the question why
this topic was not studied in an adequate way during 19 and 20 centuries and why there was anti-noble prejudice
in the mentality of the Czech nation. The second part follows the development of the Czech historiography in the
last two centuries and summarizes the main results of the research of the history of higher nobility. The last part
should give the students the brief survey of concrete archival resources in the Czech Republic and it should
direct them ad fontes
