Biographies 
David M. Graf 
David graduated from Southern Utah University in Cedar City, Utah, with a Bachelor of 
Science degree in Zoology. He is originally from the community of Santa Clara, Utah. 
At Pacific College of Optometry, he served as a representative for the technology 
committee for the Class of 2003 for 2 Y2 years. David has plans to join a private practice 
in Richfield, Utah with an emphasis on primary care and contact lenses. 
Gregory T. Greer 
Greg graduated from Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, Washington, with a 
Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. He served as the student representative for the 
Washington Association of Optometric Physicians while attending Pacific University. 
Greg plans on returning to the Seattle, Washington area to join a primary care private 
practice.

Introduction: 
Pacific University College of Optometry's Systemic Disease Course requires students to 
know many various aspects of systemic disease and there is a plethora of information on 
the World Wide Web (internet). Being able to efficiently access this information is not 
only helpful for the course, but for the practice of optometry as the scope of optometry 
continues to expand. Part of the problem that students encounter in this process is the 
time consuming task of searching for this information. There are certain web sites that 
are very valuable in the search effort, but not one website has all specific information that 
will enable the student to minimize search time and maximize their information on 
certain systemic disease topics. For this reason we have taken it upon ourselves to help 
students maximize input to learning and minimize time spent searching. 
Project Design: 
We have created a website which follows the systemic disease courses syllabi. We have 
gathered data from various internet resources and have made every effort to insure the 
accuracy of the information contained within the links. Whenever possible peer reviewed 
articles and government sourced pages were used. Information can not, however, be 
guaranteed so an appropriate caveat was placed upon the website. Each subject has 
approximately three links associated with it. The information contained in the first link is 
of an introductory nature and the subsequent links provide more in depth information. 
Students or web users also have the option to notify us if a link is outdated or not 
working. 
Project Relevance: 
Our hopes are that the student will be able to more efficiently access information 
pertaining to systemic disease. The importance of an understanding of systemic 
conditions can not be understated. As optometry continues to expand as a profession the 
need to incorporate systemic disease understanding into patient care has become 
increasingly important. This web page will be a supplementary source of information in 
conjunction with the student's notes. It will also hopefully remain a useful resource 
completion of the course. 
Conclusion: 
Our web site has compiled the most recent and useful information about the various 
systemic disease topics for the optometry students to access at any time while on the web. 
Although our information is currently up to date and correct, it may be necessary for a 
future student to update this web site as the information changes. This web page in no 
way reflects the opinions of Pacific University or the College of Optometry.
