Both onomastic lexicon (the saints’ names and the names of holidays
above all) and the lexicon used with expressive function in the
language had largely penetrated from the Old Slavonic language and
from the terminology of the Church into the Serbian vernacular. Besides
morphological adaptation, there were numerous cases of changes
of sense and meaning of the loanwords
