Captured August 4, 2006.This Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan for Benton County, Oregon covers each of the major natural and human-caused hazards that pose risks to the County. The primary objectives of this Mitigation plan are to reduce the negative impacts of future disasters on the community: to enhance life safety, increase public awareness, protect natural systems, and build partnerships. [From the Plan] This Natural Hazard Mitigation Plan was developed through a regional partnership funded by the Federal Emergency Management Agency's (FEMA) Pre-Disaster Mitigation Competitive Grant Program. The Mid/Southern Willamette Valley Region grant was awarded to support the development of natural hazard mitigation plans for communities in the region. The county utilized a planning process, plan framework, and plan development support provided by the Oregon Natural Hazards Workgroup (ONHW) at the University of Oregon’s Community Service Center
