Il seguente lavoro di tesi ha come oggetto uno studio sperimentale sulla risposta a compressione di materiali compositi in CFRP (Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymers), una classe di materiali di largo impiego nel settore aerospaziale e nell’ingegneria odierna in genere. Più che incentrarsi sulla caratterizzazione del materiale, questo studio si focalizza sull’analisi delle problematiche incontrate durante la realizzazione delle prove e sulle soluzioni adottate per il miglioramento delle stesse.
Dopo una breve introduzione sui materiali compositi e le principali applicazioni in campo aerospaziale, si illustra la prova di compressione e i suoi sviluppi. In seguito si mostrano i provini analizzati e la strumentazione utilizzata per l’esecuzione delle prove. Nell’ultimo capitolo si discutono in dettaglio, con l’ausilio di immagini ed opportuni grafici, le prove più interessanti sia dal punto di vista dell’esecuzione che dei risultati.
The subject of this dissertation is an experimental survey about the compressive response of CFRP composite materials, a class of materials widely employed in aerospace and, in general, in today engineering today. Rather than focusing on the material characterization, this survey deals with the analysis of the problems found during the execution of tests and the solutions adopted for their improvement.
After a brief introduction about to composite materials and their main uses in aerospace, the compressive test and its historical developments are shown showed. Then, the analyzed specimens and the instrumentation used for the test execution are displayed. In the last chapter the most interesting tests in terms of execution and results are discussed in detail supported by, showing images and graphs
