DESAIN DAN ANALISA AERODINAMIKA BODI MOBIL HEMAT ENERGI ESTUNGKARA 3.0 DAN STABILITASNYA TERHADAP CROSSWIND DENGAN MENGGUNAKAN ANALISA CFD (COMPUTATIONAL FLUID DYNAMICS) UNTUK KOMPETISI SHELL ECO-MARATHON

Abstract

This main objectives of the project was to design a prototype vehicle body that has an aerodynamic body design with CD value of lower than 0.125. The Prototype vehicle from Bengawan team is a concept vehicle designed specifically, with the aim of saving fuel to participate in the Shell Eco-marathon competition. In this study crosswind effect was given to know the performance of aerodynamic stability of the vehicle when the wind blows from the side, by giving a yaw angle of the vehicle at 0ᴏ, 15ᴏ, 30ᴏ and 45ᴏ with a speed range of 20 km/hour, 40 km/hour and 60 km/hour. Numerical analysis was solved by using ANSYS Fluent 14.5 CFD software. The result showed that the vehicle had the lowest drag coefficient value in the yaw angle of 00 at a speed of 60 km/hour with the CD value of 0.1002 and than increased with increasing yaw angles from 15ᴏ, 30ᴏ and 45ᴏ with CD 0.1890, 0.3986 and 0.6987 respectively. While the lift coefficient has the lowest value in the yaw angle of 15ᴏ at a speed of 60 km/hour with CL value of 0.0913. The rate of change in yaw moments coefficients value to wind relatif yaw angle value ΔCYM/ΔYaw angle is parameter for evaluation of vehicle aerodynamic stability which at yaw angle 15ᴏ has a value of -0.024376, it’s mean that the vehicle has good stability at yaw angle from 0ᴏ to 15ᴏ. Overall, the vehicle has an aerodynamics design and good stability based on the value of the CD, CL and ΔCYM/ΔYaw at all speed variation with yaw angle from 0ᴏ to 15ᴏ
