Characteristics of pomegranate (Punica granatum L.) cultivars Glavaš and Paštrun

Abstract

Istraživanje je provedeno na autohtonim sortama šipka Glavaš i Paštrun uzgojenim na području zapadne Hercegovine. Analizirane su pomološke (širina i visina ploda, masa ploda i zrna, masa 100 zrna, randman zrna, sadržaj soka, debljina kore, visina i promjer čaške) i kemijske osobine ploda (suha tvar, ukupna kiselost, pH, sadržaj K+ i NO3 - iona, ukupni i reducirajući šećeri) te boja zrna. Dobiveni rezultati pokazali su značajne razlike između istraživanih sorata. Sorta Glavaš ima veću masu ploda i zrna, veći sadržaj ukupnih kiselina, viši pH i veći sadržaj K+. Prema kemijskom sastavu obadvije sorte pripadaju skupini kiselih sorata te su pogodne za proizvodnju sokova.The research has been conducted upon the authochthonous pomegranate species called Glavaš and Paštrun that were grown in West Hercegovina. The quality of the fruit was analysed by the pomological parameters (fruit width and lenght, fruit weight and aril weight, 100 aril weight, randman of arils, juice content, peel thickness, calyx lenght and diameter) and chemical analyses (total soluble solids, titrable acidity, pH, K+ and NO3 - content) and fruit skin colour. The given resultsshow that there were significant differences between the cultivars. The \u27Glavaš\u27 fruits had the highest fruit weight, aril weight, titrable acidity, pH and K+ .The results imply that pomegranate cultivars Glavaš and Paštrun have sour taste and they are suitable for juice production
