WILL TRADE POLICY LIBERALIZATION OF EUROPEAN UNION TOWARDS SOUTH-EAST EUROPEAN COUNTRIES INFLUENCE MORE DISTINCTIVE GROWTH OF THEIR EXPORTS?

Abstract

In conditions of accentuated trade liberalization and globalization processes, closing of a country within its own frames is inconceivable and impossible, especially when it is aquestion of a small country. Development orientation through the choice of adequate trade policy, what was the practice of numerous countries in past, has been restricted and reduced to minimum. New theoretical considerations emphasize liberalization in processes of economic growth and development, bringing new credit to the concept of comparative advantages which were for years the basis of specialization and integration of the country into foreign trade. The source of competitive advantages lies in determination of what market and how to conquer it, respectively which products to produce. The paper investigates the scope of influence of trade policy to national economies which do not accept modified conditions at the world market fast enough. The South-East European countries which since recently had almost completely liberalized approach to the European Union market will not considerably increase its exports to the mentioned market, due to inadequate export offer and low competitiveness level of national economic subjects
