Rasjedi su osnovne strukturne jedinice litosfere. Nastaju pucanjem i pomicanjem dijelova stijenske mase pod utjecajem sila gravitacije, ekspanzije ili kompresije. Stvaraju se dva stijenska bloka, krila rasjeda - krovinsko i podinsko krilo koji se pomiču duž rasjedne ravnine. Ovisno o pomicanju krovinskog krila prema podinskom razlikujemo normalne i reverzne rasjede.
