U radu se istražuje interpretabilnost pankromatskoga satelitskog snimka IRS-1C integriranoga s multispektralnim snimkom Landsat TM u svrhu ispitivanja mogućnosti osuvremenjivanja lista topografske karte mjerila 1:25 000. Geokodiranje izvorne karte izvedeno je na temelju koordinata trigonometrijskih točaka
lista karte. Satelitski snimci geokodirani su s pomoću kontrolnih točaka preuzetih s karte. Vektoriziran je sadr.aj karte i kreirana topografska baza podataka. Digitalnom obradom snimaka poboljšana je njihova interpretabilnost, a zatim provedena vektorizacija novonastalog stanja. Detekcija promjena šumskog i vodenog područja definirana je na temelju nadzirane klasifikacije integriranoga (prostorno i spektralno spojenoga) snimka. Provjera dobivenih rezultata izvedena je s pomoću odgovarajućih aerofotogrametrijskih snimaka. Iako navedenom metodologijom nije u potpunosti osigurano osuvremenjivanje topografskih karata mjerila 1:25 000, baza je upotpunjena velikom količinom podataka. Rad je izveden s pomoću softvera Erdas Imagine 8.3.The investigation of interpretability of panchromatic satellite image IRS-1C integrated with multispectral Landsat TM image with the purpose of updating the topographic map sheet at the scale of 1:25 000 has been described. The geocoding of source map was based on trigonometric points of the map sheet. Satellite
images were geocoded using control points selected from the map. The contents of map have been vectorized and topographic database designed. The digital image processing improved the interpretability of images. Then, the vectorization of new contents was made. The change detection of the forest and water area was defined by using unsupervised classification of spatial and spectral merged images. Verification of the results was made using corresponding
aerial photographs. Although this methodology could not insure the complete updating of topographic map at the scale of 1:25 000, the database has been updated with huge amount of data. Erdas Imagine 8.3. software was used
