56Instructions to AuthorsThe journal Polimeri carriesscientific, scholarly and technical papers, re-view articles, reviews, communication reports,views, comments and notes, professional in-formation, state of the art surveys, bibliograph-ical and general survey articles, historical sur-veys, official news, miscellaneous notes, read-ers' correspondence, and commercial publi-cityin the fieldsof polymer and related sciences, fundamentaland applied; polymer engineering and en-gineering in general; related technical dis-ciplines (chemistry, physics, mechanical, pro-duction, material, industrial and civil engi-neering), transport, agriculture, medicine, en-vironmental protection and nature preser-vation, information sciences, standardisation,business and marketing, and other pro-fessional activities in connection with polymerraw materials, materials and products.GeneralClassification of papers. The author can him-self suggest the category for his contribution(original scientific, technical, research, or sur-vey paper, communication, conference paper,topical report, contribution for a particularcolumn, etc.), but the final decision will bemade by the editors on the recommendationof the reviewers. The scientific and profession-al papers are refereed by at least two review-ers.Responsibility of the author. The author is fullyresponsible for the contents of his/her paper.The editors assume that the author has obtain-ed the permission for the reproduction of por-tions of texts published elsewhere, and thatthe publication of the paper in question doesnot infringe upon any individual or corporaterights.Language. The papers are, in principle, pub-lished in Croatian or English. The authors ofscientific, technical and research papersshould attach to each paper an abstract, titlesand subtitles in English and in the language inwhich the paper is written.Editing and linguistic revision. Each paper issubject to revision to make it conform to gen-eral, professional and editorial standards andthe specific Polimeri style sheet. The editorswill, in principle, require modifications of thework directly from the author upon the rec-ommendation made by the referees. In excep-tional cases, if the editors should decide thatmajor shortcomings in the contents on pre-sentation should be corrected, the paper willbe returned to the author, prior to review, formodification or supplement. All papers aresubject to linguistic, terminological and met-rological revision. The use of the InternationalMetric System (SI) units is mandatory.Filing. The papers accepted for publicationand the correspondence in connection withthem will be filled for three years from thedate of publication. Other contributions willnot be filed. Manuscripts and other materials(drawings, photos, etc.) cannot be returnedto the authors.Manuscript preparation(style sheet)General. Intending authors are advised tolook at the papers already published in Poli-meri belonging to the category to which theywould like to contribute. This will give themthe best idea of the style sheet of this journal.Format and typing. Contributions should besent to the editors in three copies, doublespaced, on one side of the paper only. Usestandard size paper, with a 20 mm margin leftand right. All three copies of the manuscriptshould include all enclosures (diagrams, pho-tographs, etc.). The final version of manu-script (including all figures) should be sent tothe Editors in the electronic form at as well(e-mail: polimeriºfsb.hr, diskette, CD-ROM).Length. Contributions are to be written in aconcise and clear style. Short contributions toany of regular columns should not exceed 5pages, scientific research and technical papers15 pages, and review articles and state-of-the-art surveys 25 pages, including all en-closures.Style. The paper is to be written in the thirdperson (impersonal style). The title should beshort and informative, in principle containingdescriptors (keywords). Papers reporting ex-perimental work usually have the followingstructure: introduction, general part (theoreti-cal background), experimental part (methods,instruments, samples), measurement results,discussion, and conclusion.Results are best displayed in tabular form.Wherever possible, mathematical and chemi-cal symbols, equations and formulas shouldbe used. Abbreviations and symbols should beexplained when used for the first time in atext.References. References should be listed at theend of the paper in the order of theirappearance in the text. In the text itself, theyshould be marked by Arabic numerals writtenas superscripts.Example:1. Rogi}, A., ^ati}, I.: Injekcijsko pre{anjepolimera, Dru{tvo plasti~ara i gumaraca,Zagreb, 1996.2. Figure captions and tabletitles and descriptions for all classified contri-butions should be given in the language ofthe text and in English. The final version of thepaper should contain the following: paperwith figures included, paper without figures(text should contain figure captions and theirfile names – e.g. FIGURE 1. Rate of oxygen ab-sorption – fig1.jpg) and figures in the originalformat (.xls ili .cdr or .tif or .jpg in resolution of300 dpi) for film printing. If figures do notexist in electronic form, they should be madewith Indian ink, or good quality photos shouldbe enclosed.For the representation of physical magnitudesand measuring units, see Zakonska metrologi-ja (Legal Metrology) in Tehni~ka enciklopedija,Vol. 8, Jugoslavenski leksikografski zavod Mi-roslav Krle`a, Zagreb, 1982, p. 496.Abstract, in the language of the contributionand in English, should not exceed 200 words(16 typed lines). It should be carefully writtento summarise the essential contents of the pa-per, and not just section headings or conclu-sions. The abstract should, as a rule, presentthe basic assumptions, information on themethods used, and main results. It should bewritten as a single paragraph.Keywords.
