THE FORMATION OF MULTYSCALING STRUCTURES UNDER LASER IRRADIATION OF ZIRCONIUM ALLOYS SURFACE

Abstract

The results of studying the influence of laser pulse irradiation on the structure of the zirconium alloys surface layers are presented. As a result of laser irradiation of the alloys surface the multyscalihg structure which included large-scale and small-scale changes of surface relief was formed. Under laser pulse irradiation of alloys surface the concentration of intermetallic phase’s inclusions in the surface layer to a depth of 0.3 μm of ageing alloys was reduced. Due to the rapid heating and solidification of a liquid melt the front of the melt is moving at high velocity and accelerated migration of inclusions into the surface layer of the irradiated spot
