Suplementação de creatina e treinamento resistido sobre a composição corporal de idosos: uma revisão sistemática

Abstract

The objective of this study was to conduct a systematic review of the literature on the effectiveness of creatine supplementation associated with resistance training in the body composition of the elderly. Eight databases were verified eight databases: PubMed, Cochrane, ScienceDirect, Scopus, SportDiscus, Web of Science, Bireme and Scielo. As selection criteria: a) surveys conducted with the elderly (men or women over 60 years of age); b) studies analyzing creatine supplementation; c) intervention with resistance training; d) studies analyzing the results on body composition. Nine studies were evaluated and presented in two sections: methodological characteristics and effects of interventions on variables of interest. For data analysis the content verification was used. The studies results showed increases in lean body mass, muscle mass and bone mineral density, as well to reduction in fat body mass, presenting an improvement in the body composition of the elderly
