The manuscript is well-written and does a nice job highlighting the results of the prior publication. The manuscript could benefit from the addition of a bit more discussion concerning the potential mechanisms underlying the effects on axon growth, other than mTOR pathway. What else is known in the literature about IGFBL1 in cell signalling? What role might cytoskeletal regulators play?
