The article “La decadencia de España” (1907) rewritten by Azorín for publication in the book Clásicos y Modernos (1913) converts Diego de Saavedra Fajardo into his new protagonist. Today, the discovery of the original script allows us to explain the relationship between the perspective of new text and Saavedra Fajardo’s choices for supporting his own ideas. <br /
